Peace of Mind
William Dewey Loudermilk

What has happened to all the people we used to know?
Have their façades melted like the spring melts the snow?
Can they smile at a stranger that they pass on the street,
or is their insecurity so great no one new they chance to meet?

Does it bother your mind that people are so unkind?
Is it just a game, telling you that you’re still sane?

What has happened to all the people we used to hang around?
Have they found their happiness on the other side of town?
Can they smile every morning when they look in the mirror,
or crossing that fine line of sanity do they draw nearer?

Can I take the time to find my peace of mind?
Will I really lose the race, if I set my own pace?

What it all comes down to is how do you spend your time?
Do you try to live your life or try to escape your mind?
Can you buy your happiness in all of your worldly things?
Is the sparkle in your eyes as bright as the diamonds in your ring?

Does it bother your mind that people are so unkind?
Is it just a game, telling you that you’re still sane?

Can I take the time to find my peace of mind?
Will I really lose the race, if I set my own pace?
